What is the Bratlalm all about?

Hello and welcome!

We will be very pleased to see you! Fancy an alpine party proper? There is no better place than the Bratl Alm in Wenigzell, wonderfully nestled in the eastern Styrian Joglland near the Hochwechsel, Stuhleck and Masenberg. Our adventure wine pub was built with fir wood following ancient tradition in the classic-regional architectural style.

Here you can experience nature and traditions: Our bread comes directly from the pub's parlour and it is baked just as it used to be in the good old days. Every Wednesday you can kick your heels and have fun on the mountain pasture. Enjoy genuine live music and have fun. Every Friday we serve fresh roast pork from a wood stove accompanied by our home grown Styrian wine. It's worth mentioning that we have the highest situated vineyard in the province of Styria.

Have a nice walk along the "Flascherlweg" (bottle path) and take a break at the "Schnapsbauer" (schnapps farmer) before you stop for a bite to eat on our beautiful terrace; enjoy the most wonderful sights around you and chose to eat our home-made meat specialities from our smokehouse. See you soon at our wine pub on the Bratl Alm. Your Fast Family!

The highest situated vineyard in Joglland on the Bratlalm

It is a very special "grape-related" surprise: Adventuresome connoisseurs will find a top-class wine culture that is second to none on the mountain pasture of the Bratlalm in Wenigzell. In the spring, Engelbert Teichert from the Fast Inn planted the most northern and highest situated vineyard of Styria. At 900 m above sea level a wide variety of vine grapes shall thrive and prosper and provide for a real culinary attraction. Mr. Teichert , who is a wine expert, can bank on his expert knowledge acquired in the Silberberg viticulture vocational school. Mr. Teichert plans to grow further vine grapes and he hopes to add new highlights to the Styrian wine area. Maybe we have sparked your interest in the wine culture and you fancy a visit to the innovative Fast Family and their fascinating vineyard high up in the Bratlalm mountain pasture.

How did the name "Bratlalm" come into existence?

On the one hand, it comes from the home-grown speciality from the wood stove and, on the other hand, from music-making in the wine pub ("Bratln").

The Wenigzell Bratlalm is an EU-role model (press release)

Official opening of the unique alpine Bratlalm wine pub in Wenigzell. It is the creative-minded gastronomer Toni Fast who has set up this pioneering concept; Toni Fast will add new highlights towards innovation and development work in the rural area. The official launch will be marked by live music and a grand opening party. From the mouth-watering wine pub offers to the most comfortable family-recreation programmes, the tradtitional Bratlalm presents itself as a meeting point for those who fancy adventures and for connoisseurs.

EU role model for Tanno! The Tanno building project on the Bratlalm consists only of robust fir wood. The Fast Family has been awarded for their ingenuity with EU funding that comes from the common EU-LEADER+ initiative; the Austrian-wide selection procedure for the participation in this common initiative is quite tough.

The Joglland Kraftspendörfer (areas rich in energy) belong to those 12 candidates who have made it to the EU funding programme. Tanno accounts for the extraordinary forest stand of this region, 20 % of which consists of fir wood. Leander Feiertag from the EU Regional Management of Eastern Styria, pointed out that the wide variety of the fir wood processing is still underestimated.
